HP Spectre x360 review is a high-end convertible laptop that is characterized by the smooth contour, colorful OLED screens, and powerful performance to handle daily routine work and creative activities. The most recent 2025 models include Intel core ultra processors, which is accompanied by new AI features and better inbuilt graphics.
HP Spectre x360 review: Key specs
Here are the specs of the unit I used and what I know about this model (14-inch, 2025):
Spec | What I used / what’s available |
---|---|
Processor | Intel Core Ultra 7 155H (16 cores, up to ~4.8 GHz boost) |
Display | 14-inch 2.8K OLED screen, aspect ratio ~16:10 |
RAM | Up to 32 GB LPDDR5X |
Storage | Up to 2 TB PCIe NVMe SSD in some variants; the 2025 14-inch standard model I used had 512 GB in my test version. |
Weight | Around 1.27 kg for the 14-inch model. |
Battery | ~ 68 Wh battery in the 14-inch model. |
These specs give a pretty good premium feel. The HP Spectre x360 14-inch specifications are strong, especially for a thin/light 2-in-1.
Design and Build: The way it feels in my hands
The build is very premium. chrome, crisp lines, gem-cut edges. I prefer its sturdiness, no bend and costly plastic. The hinge of the 360 rotates easily. It allows me to use it in a flat position, tent position, or tablet position. Good in drawing or presentations. The keyboard is comfy. The keys do not feel fatigued; there is no mushy feeling when typing. The touchpad is spacious, precise, and responsive. And hence, should you prefer laptops that are nice to touch and feel, this is a bull.
HP Spectre x360 OLED display
This is one of the best parts.
- The display is bright and in OLED form with bright colours. Deep blacks, good contrast.
- The resolution (2.8K) as well as aspect ratio of about 16:10 provide additional vertical space. This comes in handy when I am working on documents, writing blogs, or on code. Less scrolling.
- Real use Brightness is good. HP boasts of having a high number of nits; I recorded approximately 380-400 nits when measuring. You must push it in the sun but it can be used.
- The viewing angles are very good due to the fact that it is OLED. Also colour accuracy is high. My sRGB was almost full, DCI-P3 was very good. Ideal in the creative work - photo editing, video, and so on.
HP spectre x360 OLED display is thus a significant strength.
HP Spectre x360 touch screen characteristics
Touchscreen and hinge are very important since this is a 2-in-1.
- Touch works well. Responsive, accurate. Pen/input stylus is decent (when you select a model with a pen). It is excellent to draw or make notes. I used a stylus; lag is minimal.
- Hinge is sturdy. I seem secure when it is used in tablet mode. The tablet weight remains affordable (even in short periods) due to the smaller size of 14 inches that makes the tablet light.
- The laptop allows gestures, touch gestures, etc. Convenient.
- The display is touch screen features heavy: good multi, pen input, good creative / hybrid.
- The difference that makes it more than an ordinary clamshell laptop.

HP Spectre x360 RAM & storage options
These define the ability of the machine to remain future-proof or fast.
- RAM: 16 GB and 32 GB (LPDDR5X). The 32-GB model is capable of responding to heavier work, numerous open tabs in the browsers etc, with ease. When you purchase 16 GB, it is fine in most of the activities but would not work well when you are doing videotreatments or in multitasking.
- Storage: 512 GB is comfortable. In case you store videos/photos, then use 1 TB or 2 TB. SSD is extremely fast (NVMe), and hence, applications load fast.
- Note: RAM comes soldered, which means that you can not upgrade RAM later in several versions. Storage in several variations can be replaced, but it will depend on the model. I verified; storage was available to users in my unit, RAM was not.
It is important to note that you need to make a wise choice: you can pay a little more to have enough memory and disk space on the computer.
Performance: What I experienced
The following is its behavior in normal use:
- Web browsing, office applications, video streaming are normal. No lag, smooth animations.
- Browsing tabs multiplied by tasks + the slightest editing of photos is good.
- It is good at light-to-medium loads; however, it is weak in heavy loads (video rendering, 3D, gaming). It is not a gaming computer, but it is capable of creative applications.
- One, it overheats with heavy load. The fans come on. However, in the normal working daytime it remains cool.
So there is good performance, particularly of a high-end 2-in-1.
HP Spectre x360 battery life
This is of particular importance, and this is where things are muddled.
- At benchmark (PCMark 10 Modern Office) the 14 inch model had battery backup of approximately 13 hours.
- On actual light to medium work (writing, internet browsing, streaming), I got 8-9 hours with no difficulties in India. That is not too bright, with WiFi and so on.
- Battery life is reduced on heavy work days (video editor, lots of apps, high brightness and use of such functions as 120Hz refresh when possible), which is more similar to 6-7 hours.
- HP boasts of 7-11 hours of OLED display and high-end features on. That is approximately the case with my experience.
Therefore, the battery life of HP Spectre x360 is not flawless. When pushed hard, it may take less time, when used moderately it may last a working-day.
Price & value: HP Spectre x360 price in India
What I found:
- Some of its models in India begin with the 14-inch 2025, priced at approximately 1,64,999.
- The 16-inch model costs more: in certain stores, about 178,590.
- In Flipkart and Amazon, the prices fluctuate significantly based on the RAM/Storage/ display variant (OLED, touch and others), with some offers/discounts. Ex: a model of 32 GB + 1TB + Ultra 7 costs about 159490 in certain retailers.
Are you dependent on that money?
- Yes, when you truly take the premium features: OLED, touch, performance, 2-in-1 flexibility.
- It is costly, yet to individuals that desire to have a higher-quality experience, innovativeness, portability, the laptop merits most of the cost.
- A laptop of lesser quality may cost a bit more, but still be more economical, should it be that you only require the basic office-use or casual media consumption.
Drawbacks & things to watch out for
Some of the things I have noticed or which have been reported include:
- The lower the brightness or the higher the refresh rate, the more battery life is depleted.
- When working hard, thermal throttling: performance may decrease when the device becomes hot.
- Many versions of RAM cannot be upgraded. When you desire to live long, buy more RAM initially.
- Other users complained of battery drainage, hardware support/driver updates. (I read forums where people claim battery is lower than promised) (I read forums where people complain that battery is not as high as they promised)
Verdict: Who this laptop is good for
I believe that the HP Spectre x360 is a good option amongst:
- Artists (writers, designers, photo editors), who desire large screen, excellent performance and portability.
- Students desiring a high-quality, versatile (tablet and laptop), high-end item.
- Professional baby boomers who are on the road, at meetings, require good battery and display.
Not as ideal if you:
- Is a hardcore gamer (games require GPU power).
- Require high capacity battery life on load.
- Desire something cheap: this is premium priced.
My Final Thoughts
I am in love with the way HP has made Spectre x360. This is a good balance in a world of laptops that tend to sacrifice either one of them, performance, display or portability.
In the event that I was making a purchase today, I would go with a 14-inch OLED, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, although this will make the phone more expensive, as I would like this to serve me a couple of years at least with all sorts of purposes.
In short: HP Spectre x360 review - this is a laptop that I would recommend in case you would like to purchase high-quality and be able to afford it. It is not ideal but its strong sides greatly outcompensate the weak ones.
FAQs
